JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Dates Revised Again, January 23 Exam Postponed in West Bengal

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has once again revised the examination schedule for JEE Main 2026 Session 1, bringing relief and confusion for candidates at the same time. As per the latest update, the January 23, 2026 JEE Main examination has been postponed in West Bengal due to the observance of Saraswati Puja, a major cultural and religious festival in the state.
According to official information, the decision was taken after considering requests from students and local authorities, as several examination centers would face logistical challenges on the festival day. The postponement applies only to candidates appearing at exam centers in West Bengal, while the exam schedule in other states remains unchanged.
The NTA has clarified that the revised date for the postponed exam will be announced soon on the official JEE Main website. Candidates affected by this change are advised to regularly check the NTA portal and their registered email IDs for the latest updates regarding the new examination date and revised admit cards.
JEE Main 2026 Session 1 is being conducted across multiple dates in January for admission to undergraduate engineering programs in NITs, IIITs, and other centrally funded technical institutions, as well as for eligibility for JEE Advanced. With lakhs of candidates appearing for the exam nationwide, even minor changes in the schedule have a significant impact.
Students are advised not to panic and to continue their preparation as planned. The NTA has assured that all necessary measures will be taken to ensure a smooth examination process and that no candidate will be disadvantaged due to the rescheduling.
For further updates, candidates should rely only on official notifications and avoid misinformation circulating on social media.
