Tripura Becomes India’s Third Fully Literate State After Goa

Tripura has achieved a major milestone by becoming the third fully literate state in India, after Goa and Mizoram. The state’s literacy rate has reached 95.6 percent, crossing the benchmark of 95 percent that qualifies a state as fully literate under national standards.
This achievement marks a significant moment in India’s education landscape, especially in the context of 2025. Continuous efforts in the education sector, along with targeted literacy programs, played a key role in helping Tripura reach this goal. The focus on inclusive education ensured that people across different age groups gained access to basic reading and writing skills.
The success is also being linked to effective governance and cooperation between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its alliance partner, the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT). Their joint initiatives in promoting education and literacy have contributed to the state’s progress.
Tripura’s recognition as a fully literate state is expected to boost social development and create better opportunities for economic growth. This milestone strengthens India’s broader mission of improving education outcomes and highlights the importance of sustained policy efforts in achieving literacy for all.
